Salutations! Alto's Introduction.

Hello everyone!
My name is ❂Gym Leader Alto❂, (as if it wasn't obvious enough from my username). I am the Dark Gym Leader of the Elitist Region. I am also a room moderator in our room.
I suppose I've been playing Pokemon since the age of 4 when I first played Blue version. My first starter was Squirtle, and somehow I thought it was the coolest thing back then!
Over the years, however, my favorite generation became Gen 3, and my favorite starter is Torchic. Ironic, I know, but just because my favorite Type is Dark and my favorite Pokemon of all time is Blaiken, it does not mean I can't have a lack of connection. Although, to make up for it, my second favorite Pokemon is Umbreon.
Anyhow, I've been playing for a long time for sure, but I never got into competitive battling. Before I joined Showdown, I had no clue what to do, and I had little knowledge of EV's or strategy. That was about 5 months ago, I suppose. Since then, I joined the Elitist League at the beginning of my Summer break, and I've been with them since.
If you'd like to know a little more about me: My favorite color is probably navy blue. I attend college at Texas Tech University and am studying Chemical Engineering. I was in band from middle school to the end of high school; I played Bb Soprano Clarinet, Tenor Sax, and Alto Eb Clarinet (which is where I got my name from. I made 1st Chair 4A-All State in Texas with it. My most proudest achievement.) I'm Non-Denominational Christian and listen to a ton of Praise and Worship, Classical, Jazz, and sometimes Punk Rock alternative.
I'm a guy with a big heart, and I love showing others compassion. It is my dream to one day make the world a better place, but I'm hoping to go into the medical field and help people directly as well. Actions really do speak louder than words, and I know the entire world could make a huge difference if they tried. I never lose hope or faith in that.
