Frost Server IRC chat channel
Frost Server IRC:
The Frost Server has an IRC channel (it is new) which is a chat channel that allows users to talk to others in it without the need to be on the server. It is an easy to use channel which can be joined from anywhere and used to talk to anyone online, whether it be asking an Admin for some help or just general talk without the need to go on the server itself.
The link to it is here: http://client00.chat.mibbit.com/#frost@irc.synirc.net
Why?
The channel can work in many areas. Whether you want to sit in it whilst on your phone, or maybe you are out and can't get on the server but maybe want to still talk to someone or ask for some help. Maybe there is an issue with you connecting to the server and you need to talk to a member of staff, or maybe the server is having trouble and you want to know what's up. IRC will allow you to talk to the different people able to help you.
How to use?
IRC is an old system that people who spend a lot of time on the internet or are maybe older will know about, but generally not many people know what it is, and if they do they don't like how it looks. Mibbit is the client which gives the IRC a nice look and the IRC itself is very easy to use.
Depending on what you want to use it for, you only really need to give yourself a name and then you can join and chat in the channel at will. If you wish to register your name (ranked users (~, & and @) will need to register to get a rank) there is a command to do so. The system uses something called a nick server or a ns for short. This is what allows you to run certain commands like to register your name.
/ns help - shows all commands that you can use
/ns help register - will show you the syntax (how you register) that you type to register your name (nick)
Register:
Syntax: REGISTER password [email]
or
/ns register testpass frost@frost.psim.us
This is how you would register your name and thus you will keep it (and for ranks) and keep a rank.
If you do happen to register (you don't have to) when you leave and come back you will not be identified which is like logging in. To login you do the below.
/identify password
such as
/identify testpass
The IRC is not something which is going to take over, it is something in place to give another way of communication, unlike forum though it will be live so if someone is on you will be able to talk to them like you would on server.

Re: Frost Server IRC chat channel
I tried it, and I kinda don't see the point. If you want to talk to someone, either A: Use the Frost server or B: PM them. No one was on, and no one would go on. At least that's my view on it.
Re: Frost Server IRC chat channel
i think the purpose if more for if, for instance, the server was down, people would know where to look for information regarding the server's status

Ah, that's true. Since the server is down a lot, it would make sense. The server hasn't been down recently, though. . (Hope I didn't jinx it)
